Dr Shabnam Shaik

Dr Shabnam Shaik is a Medical Anthropologist and Team Lead for Social Behavioural Sciences (SBS) Formative Research on the CHAMPS project at Wits VIDA. She oversees all SBS research activities, including protocol development, ethics submissions, data collection, and reporting. Her expertise spans qualitative research, health anthropology, and academic programme development. Dr Shaik lectures in the Masters in Vaccinology programme at Wits and supervises postgraduate students. She completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Rhodes University in Critical Studies in Sexualities and Reproduction and previously designed and implemented several academic and service-learning programmes in research methods and academic literacy at Rhodes.
