Dr Kubendran Naidoo is a joint appointee of the NHLS and the University of the Witwatersrand, affiliated with both the Wits VIDA and AGTRU research units. With a foundation in malaria research and molecular biology, he has conducted extensive work on red blood cell disorders and the blood-stage development of malaria parasites. His technical expertise includes recombinant protein expression, gene disruption, and phage display for protein function analysis. Dr Naidoo currently leads the technology transfer efforts for the C1 recombinant protein platform under Rubic One Health, supporting vaccine and therapeutic development in low- and middle-income countries. He continues to explore C1 applications in human and animal health, while contributing to academic training, curriculum development, and research supervision. His work has been recognised through local research grants and awards.
